See-fish image browser and iPhone app

Once in a while I see something or have an experience and it makes me think of the future. The iPhone has been one such piece of technology for me that has changed the way I communicate totally. A friend of mine and his colleagues have been working on another piece of technology that I think will change the way that we all browse through photographs, either exploring our collections or looking for a particular image for a design project or exhibition.

See-Fish really is a clever idea. It's just in an early stage at the moment, but you can read all about their image browser and the technology behind it on their website. Even better, if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch you can download the app from the Apple App Store. Just search for 'see-fish'. It costs £1.79, but it is so much fun and so potentially game changing for the future of image browsing that it is worth a look.

The app allows you to search for flickr users and then it builds a map of their flickr photograph collections, or you can send it to your own flickr collections. Once it has done it's processing you then browse the photographs as a 3D fly-through 'type' experience with the usual multi-touch gestures and with the images grouped together according to preset criteria. Hard to explain. But a lot of fun and really interesting. Worth a look, and definitely worth the download.

This is a great app for viewing photos, I like the way the photos are grouped together and the way you move them around. I saw this article and went and bought it. Brilliant
