Having neglected my site for a while (gloomy weather in the UK equals lack of motivation!) I thought I would start with a bang and introduce the work of photographer David Whitton in my guest gallery. New photography and articles from myself coming soon. David presented me with something of a problem in that his work is so wide ranging and a single selection of photographs just didn't do his eye any justice! So I narrowed his 'shortlist' down to two portfolios - architecture and the urban landscape, I guess it is architecture meets travel, and a second portfolio of wild lands. His eye for light and form, mixing in a variety of art movements including pointilism and surrealism produce photographs that I continue to enjoy over and over. I hope you enjoy them too. David Whitton For years, photography has been a “re”-creational activity for me. But as an increasingly busy father/ architect/ worker with refugees etc, I guess I’ve become little more than an occasional photographer in recent years. All the same, a surprising number of people have kindly said “You should do something with that material; it really touches me”. So when Mike offered this “guest spot” it seemed a good idea to share some moving moments with a wider audience. Not surprisingly, much of my work focuses on how architecture can move or lift us; but I also have a wide portfolio of nature and landscape shots, loving the earth’s wild places, as I do. Whilst no particularly wild places appear here, you can see some tamer “great outdoors” material to contrast with the architectural stuff. I have opted not to establish a personal website at this early stage of sharing with a wider public but please feel free to contact me on 'cdwhitton at btinternet.com'. I’d love to hear from you. See David's photography here.
